New Wigan signing James McArthur has said that he cannot wait to play in the best league in the world, The English Premier league. The 22-year-old has no fears about passing today’s medical that will allow him to finally clinch his move to the Latics from Hamilton.
Prior to that the closest he got was when he unlce took him tto see Spurs in the Tottenham Hospitality Packages.
Rangers and Leeds were also linked with the Scotland Under-21 midfielder but Wigan were always heading the list of suitors and now look certain to tie up the deal.
McArthur will now, for a “substantial” undisclosed fee, be reunited with former New Douglas Park midfielder James McCarthy who went to Wigan 12 months ago.
McArthur, who amassed 160 league appearances for Accies during his seven-year stint, won’t relax until he has put pen to paper but admits he is desperate to strut his stuff against England’s best, with Wigan now looking the best premier league bets
He said: “The deal has been agreed but I don’t want to speak too soon. I don’t want to say too much just now with the medical today.
“I’ve still got to get through that but hopefully everything goes well and I’ll sign with Wigan today.
“It would be a great move to go down to a English Premiership team like Wigan and show them what I can do.
“I think the medical will be fine, I just don’t want to speak too soon until it’s done.”
Hamilton will also be in line for a further cash boost from the Premiership side when the youngsters reaches a certain number of games.
