After being linked with several clubs during the last few transfer windows, the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson can finally look forward to keeping the Brazilian midfielder Anderson at the club.
The midfielder has said that he is extremely happy with life at Old Trafford, and he is not looking for a move away from the club contrary to rumours. Anderson was one of the high-profile signings– along with Nani – a few years ago. Even though he did not take long to establish himself as a first-team regular, he has suffered several injuries in the last few years that has hampered his development.
As a result, he has found it extremely hard to return to first-team action. He has also largely been on the sidelines as well. This resulted in rumours suggesting that Anderson could be set for a return to Portugal on a season-long loan deal in the summer. However, he ended up staying at Old Trafford, and he has become one of the key members of the team in the last few months. Even though his injury troubles have not vanished, he has been able to get regular football recently. Anderson has said that only Barcelona and Real Madrid are the viable options if he is to leave the club because United are at a massive level themselves.
“It is not true. Everyone knows I am happy at the club. I have had a lot of injuries but I have never let the smile go from my face. I try to help the team all the time. This is me. When I want to leave, I will have to talk to the boss first. I don’t have any issues. It is not easy to play for Manchester United. A lot of top players came here and couldn’t do it – [Juan Sebastian] Veron – some big players. Kleberson came here and didn’t play. I have stayed for six years,” said Anderson.
