Three Premier League clubs namely Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are looking to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez according to the reports in the Spanish media. The interest of the Premier League trio in Saul was confirmed by Spanish publication Marca.
The aforementioned Spanish publication stated that Manchester United and Liverpool are the two best-placed teams keen to sign Saul who was a part of the Atletico Madrid squad that emerged La Liga champions last season ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Manchester United might get their transfer target for just £45m this summer with Atletico Madrid eager to do a deal for the midfielder. The report via Daily Mail said the Spanish champions would sanction a move for Saul if their valuation is met.
Saul has been capped by Spain on 19 occasions but he was absent at Euro 2020 which concluded a few weeks back. The Atletico Madrid star missed out on the 24-man squad named by manager Luis Enrique for the tournament as the three-time champions reached the final four before being eliminated by eventual champions Italy. Spain were knocked out by the Italians via penalties after the two teams had played out a 1-1 draw.
Saul would be a like-for-like replacement for Frenchman Paul Pogba at Manchester United if they can secure a deal for him. Pogba has a year left on his Manchester United contract and he’s attracting interest from Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in his native France.
