PARK SURPRISED AT RETURN

Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung has claimed that he is surprised to see Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba return back to the Premier league with Chelsea. The Chelsea legend came back to the club two years after leaving.

During this period, he has played in China and Turkey. At the age of 36, he is almost certain to have lost his place and strength that made him a force to reckon with in the Premier League. Drogba remains as one of best Africans to have played in the English game.

Race for the top four

The Premier League season is almost exactly a third of the way through. The international breaks, all three of them, have meant a disjointed campaign so far but there is no international calendar until well into 2015. So, players can now make club football their main focus for several months.

With the busy Christmas programme to come, we can therefore get some idea of who are likely to be in the top four and who will struggle to avoid relegation.

We look here specifically at the top four and who are likely to be in amongst that group at the end of the season. Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, possibly in that order, are among the favourites. The Betfair odds take a closer look at the situation and we can also analyse what might happen at the end of the season.

Manchester United

Welbeck could be the signing of the summer

Danny Welbeck showed with his two goals for England against Switzerland that Arsenal may well have secured the best signing of the summer when they landed the Manchester United striker on deadline day.

The 23-year-old showed pace, intelligence and a clinical instinct in front of goal as he put the finishing touches to a fine display by Roy Hodgson’s men as they beat the Swiss 2-0 in Basel to take control of Euro 2016 qualifying Group E.

Race continues for Leeds United job

While Leeds United fans were universally astounded to see new owner Massimo Cellino hire the unknown David Hockaday as head coach during the summer, the Elland Road faithful only had to wait 70 days before the former Forest Green boss was shown the door after an underwhelming start to the season.

With the Championship season still very much in its infancy, Leeds will now be looking to get a new head coach in place who can salvage something out of this campaign.

ROBBEN: NOT EASY

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has claimed that the German outfit have their work cut out against Manchester United in the Champions League, despite the poor form of the English club.

After the first managerial change in 26 years, United have been struggling for form under David Moyes. They have slipped to seventh in the table, which would have been unthinkable during the years of Ferguson. Even though they have had some great results against Bayern Munich over the years, this United team are expected to struggle against the German outfit.

UNITED LOOK LOST

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll says that the club has lost their fighting spirit under the new management of David Moyes. The club have been struggling with poor form for most of this season, and it looks to be their worst for a long time.

They are in danger of missing out on Champions League football for next season after languishing seventh in the table with only 10 matches remaining in the season. Their main competitors for the top four places – Liverpool – are closer to the table leaders Chelsea rather than Manchester United.

How to Win a Penalty Shootout

It is World Cup year and going out on penalties is a realistic proposition for England. Maybe if they read our guide they might not fall at that hurdle this time…

With the World Cup coming up, it’s a racing certainty that a couple of teams will be taking the sad, long flight home having been knocked out on penalties.
It’s the worst way to go out.

There’s a lot more to it than you might think. Here are a few fascinating shootout stats, provided by Betfair.

UNDER PRESSURE

Ahead of the crunch match with Arsenal, under pressure manager David Moyes has stated that he will not change from his philosophy. The manager has come under intense pressure after his side dropped yet more points in the league.

The 2-2 draw with Fulham means that United must win against Arsenal in order to have any hope of finishing in the top four. They already trail Liverpool, who occupy the final spot, by nine points, which is in itself a huge advantage to reduce in the remaining 13 matches of the season.

COMFORTABLE

David Moyes has said that he is totally comfortable with Sir Alex Ferguson’s presence among the spectators during the fixtures of Manchester United.

Sir Alex who was in charge at Manchester United until the last season has been seen as a spectator in most of the Manchester United games this season and there have been talks that his presence during the games might have been making Moyes a bit uncomfortable.

Some people have also said that Sir Alex is nothing, but, a burden on the club now and he should just keep himself aside.
