Rooney in the form of his life

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes that he has never played better in his career than he is currently.

The England star has been in blistering form this season, scoring 29 goals in all competitions. Now he wants to replicate that club form for his country.

England meet Egypt at Wembley in a friendly on Wednesday night at Wembley and Rooney wants to put down a marker for the World Cup, when his form and fitness will be crucial to the Three Lions’ chances of glory in South Africa.

CARNEY COMING TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Derby County reserve striker is set to play in the English Premier League after sealing a loan move to Blackpool. Socceroo David Carney has been picked up by English Premier League club Blackpool on the final day of the European transfer window.

Despite initial fears the transfer had not been completed before the 6pm deadline in England, the Premier League has now confirmed the 26-year-old will make the move from FC Twente.

“It has been a busy 24 hours but I am delighted it is done now and I am just looking forward to getting out there playing,” Carney said.

McARTHUR CANNOT WAIT TO PLAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

New Wigan signing James McArthur has said that he cannot wait to play in the best league in the world, The English Premier league. The 22-year-old has no fears about passing today’s medical that will allow him to finally clinch his move to the Latics from Hamilton.

Fashion vs the World Cup

Gone are the days when we ladies are supposed to head on out shopping while the World Cup is on – no these days I think you’ll find just as many of us crowding round the big screens in the pub or watching it at home.

Crystal Palace Saved

Crystal Palace have been saved from extinction after an agreement was reached in principle for CPFC 2010 to buy the club and Selhurst Park.

The club is struggling and consequenlty, Palace are favourites to go down. In the football betting Paddy Power have shortened the odds of Crystal Palace being relegated to Division one.

Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle gave them until Tuesday at 1500 BST to reach an agreement with Lloyds Bank before starting to liquidate the club.

At that stage, he said he would begin selling players – ending the chances of the consortium taking over.

Everton need Billionaire

Bill Kenwright Chairman of Everton Football Club has been featured in the Liverpool Echo this week.

“The truth is Everton do need a billionaire. Of course that`s a stock phrase, but we do need major investment.’ Bill Kenwright told the Echo.

The Echo has reported, although not quoted, that Kenwright told them that ‘three or four interested parties are circling around Everton’.

United fall down Rich List

Manchester United may pride themselves on being the “biggest club in the world” but their financial might has once again been overshadowed by the two biggest clubs in Spain, according to the latest annual Football Money League.

Real Madrid remain top of the Deloitte-compiled list for the fifth year running, becoming the first club in any sport to break through the €400 million (£374 million) revenue barrier in a single year. Spurs came eighth.

Owen happy on the bench

Michael Owen has no intention of leaving Manchester United in the summer, despite his lack of first-team opportunities this season, with the former England international maintaining he would rather be “playing a lesser role” at a leading club than holding down a regular place in a struggling Premier League team.
