FLETCHER BACK ON SONG

As Darren Fletcher’s career with Manchester United progressed, the Scottish midfielder was getting fewer and fewer playing time in Old Trafford. In the previous 3 seasons of Darren Fletcher, he was able to get less than 30 appearances and the player eventually decided to continue his career by making a move to another club where his chances on getting into the main team are higher.

On February of 2015, Fletcher signed for West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer and has even turned into the captain of the Premier League club.

POCHETTINO DESERVES CREDIT

It’s Harry Kane who is receiving most of the plaudits for Tottenham Hotspur’s current situation in the Premier League and the young man deserves that, but, the Spurs fans must not forget the influence of the manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentinean has been the key man behind this turnaround at White Hart Lane.
There were rumours circling around at the start of his tenure that his training methods were not being particularly liked by some of the Tottenham players. But, that did not affect Pochettino. He knew what he was doing and which way he wanted the Spurs to play.

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has said that people can expect more from him in the future, as there is scope for a lot of improvement in his game. Wayne Rooney has just scored his 30th league goal of the season.

He is set to become the major factor for Manchester United in the race for winning the 20th Premier league title.

However, he was criticised by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after the 4-0 win over Aston Villa that Rooney should not be casual during the matches. Rooney responded by saying that there is still scope for improvement in his game.

THE NEXT ENGLAND CAPTAIN

It has been revealed by a major English tabloid that both Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard are the favourites to get the captaincy from John Terry.

The English football Association removed John Terry from the captain’s post after the trial for the racial abuse case has been moved past the European Championships in the summer.

BECKHAM RULES OUT PSG MOVE

David Beckham will not be moving to France, with his reported move to Paris St. Germain called off at the moment. Beckham stated that he wants to continue with another two year contract with Galaxy.

One of the many reasons for him signing up a contract is because he wants to stay in the US, and avoid uprooting his family from America at the moment.

MCLAREN CONFIRMS VILLA APPROACH

Steve McClaren has confirmed that Aston Villa did approach him over the vacant seat in the manager post. Former England coach McClaren was paraded at The City Ground on Thursday after signing a three-year deal to succeed Billy Davies, who was sacked after losing to Swansea City in the Championship play-offs.

McClaren was on a list of potential targets to succeed Gerard Houllier after he left Villa Park on health grounds – but it was claimed he was then ruled out of contention after an adverse reaction from fans.

VAN AANHOLT EXTENDS CHELSEA DEAL

Chelsea youngster Patrick Van Aanholt has extended his Chelsea stay by four more years after signing a new contract. The 20-year-old Netherlands Under-21 defender joined the Blues from PSV Eindhoven in July 2009.

He has made fleeting first-team appearances for Chelsea, with just three starts in eight outings to his name since his arrival.

But he has gained experience during loan spells at Coventry, Newcastle and Leicester in recent seasons.

He ended the current campaign on loan with the Foxes and made 12 appearances for the Championship side managed by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

CITY TARGETTING WIN

Manchester City are determined to beat Chelsea in order to get an advantage in the race for the third position and they are targeting to exactly do that.

Already second best to Manchester United after failing to win against the Red Devils in either of their two matches in the English Premier League, Manchester’s blue club is trailing their nearest rivals by 10 points in the title race.

RICKETTS SUFFERS INJURY BLOW

Bolton Wanderers player Sam Ricketts has been ruled out for the season with an achilles injury. The Wales international full-back is expected to be out for six months and is due to have an operation on Friday.

“The likelihood is he will be out for about six months which is a big blow for Sam,” said Bolton boss Owen Coyle.

Ricketts, 29, had to be carried off on a stretcher after going to ground in an attempt to close down Victor Moses.

“He has been outstanding for us and our immediate thoughts go to him as we wish for a speedy recovery,” added Coyle.
