Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez was in the Argentina defence which kept a clean sheet during the 3-0 victory over Honduras in an international friendly clash played at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami in Florida on Friday night. New Manchester United player Martinez was at the heart of the Argentina defence alongside Real Betis star German Pezzella.
Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez is the first choice central striker for Argentina and he was responsible for the opening goal of the game against Honduras off the assist from Sevilla attacking midfielder Papu Gomez. Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar Messi added a second goal for Argentina from the penalty spot in first half added time as the two-time world champions went into the break with a comfortable two-nil lead.
In the second half, it was Messi and Argentina who dominated proceedings and they could have scored more than the one goal which arrived on 69 minutes. Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandes came on for Juventus star Leandro Paredes in the Argentine midfield and he won the ball back shortly afterwards in the direction of Messi who produced an audacious chip to score the third and final goal of the game.
The brace against the Hondurans ensured that Messi extended his record as the player with the most goals for Argentina and all other teams in South America. He has scored 88 goals for his country. Argentina are on a roll at the moment under manager Lionel Scaloni as they are unbeaten in 34 games on the international football stage.
