Bridge believes Luke Shaw should be England’s first-choice left-back

Former England and Chelsea star Wayne Bridge believes Luke Shaw should be regarded as the first-choice left-back for the Three Lions. The 23-year-old was recently crowned as Manchester United’s Player of the Year following an impressive upturn in league form but that has not been sufficient to earn him a spot with the Three Lions for the Nations League finals.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Bridge said that Shaw has made a tremendous comeback after his double leg break four years ago and personally, he would have him as the first-choice left-back with the Three Lions, he told: “I think Luke Shaw’s a brilliant player. I think he had a nasty, nasty injury (a double leg break in 2015) and all credit to him for coming back from it and I think he’s probably been one of United’s better players. He’s done really well playing in a team that hasn’t been performing that well. I’d put him at number one spot.”

Ruud Gullit slams Solskjaer’s tactics for Manchester United against Barcelona

Former Dutch star Ruud Gullit has said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the tactics wrong during the recent double-legged quarter-final tie against Barcelona in the Champions League. The Red Devils were beaten by a convincing 4-0 scoreline across both legs where they struggled to manage sufficient attempts on goal.

Speaking to BeIN Sports, Gullit insisted that United should have been more adventurous in their home patch rather than seeking to do the same at the Camp Nou, he said: “Manchester United made a mistake I think, tactically. I can understand when you play at home that you want to score goals and be more adventurous and they decided not to do it in the first leg.

Paul Ince hands warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid Manchester United’s average form

Manchester United legend Paul Ince has said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to find a solution to the club’s recent run of poor form. The Red Devils have done tremendously well in the second part of the season to come on the cusp of the top four, but they have recently suffered a couple of defeats which have slightly distanced them from the Champions League places.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Ince said that Ole has done a fantastic job in reviving the club’s top-four prospects this term, but the club need to get their act together to seal the objective of Champions League football for next season, he told: “They need to be picking up results, especially when they’ve still got the likes of Man City to play if they want to make those Champions League spots. Ultimately, Man United have to be in the Champions League. It’s simply not good enough if they’re not. Don’t get me wrong, Ole has done a fantastic job in getting them to this point, but they need to finish the job off.”

Paul Pogba backs Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the permanent Manchester United job

France international Paul Pogba believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves the permanent managerial role at Manchester United after reviving the club’s fortunes during the backend of the season. The Red Devils were lying 11 points behind the Champions League positions when Jose Mourinho was sacked from the helm in December but Ole has managed to reverse their league form to the extent that they are within the cusp of the top four.

Speaking to reporters, Pogba highlighted that everyone within Manchester United wants Ole to stay put, given the bright vein of form under his interim management. He added that he has a good relationship with the Norwegian and the same goes for other teammates within the first-team squad.

Arsene Wenger mocks Alexis Sanchez amid his Manchester United struggles

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Alexis Sanchez deserves his position on the substitutes’ bench, given he has not done enough to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into handing him a starting role. The Chile international has struggled at the Red Devils since his move from Arsenal 13 months ago and he is currently regarded as not more than a game changer off the bench.

Speaking onBeIN Sports, Wenger indicated that the Chilean plays in the same position as Anthony Martial on the left wing and this has notably contributed to his reduced gametime, given Martial has become indispensable under the guidance of Ole, he said: “He has lost his place and plays in the same position as Martial. Today who would dispute that Martial is indispensable for Man United? He plays and that’s competition and that’s fair competition in my opinion.”

Marcus Rashford aiming for consistency after bagging Player of the Month award

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is aiming for consistency with his performances after bagging the Premier League Player of the Month award for January. The England international has witnessed a change in fortunes since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took temporary charge of the club in December and during this period, he has amassed six goals from just eight league matches.

Due to this, he managed to outclass a number of top players including Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero to the monthly gong and speaking after receiving the award, he was pleased to have helped the club in the progress. He added that consistency remains key during the forthcoming months with the Red Devils aiming to propel to the top four in the Premier League.

Danny Murphy feels Manchester United are free-flowing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

TalkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy has said that Manchester United are more free-flowing with their style of play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils had found themselves in a heap after the embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool and this saw the board go with the decision to sack Jose Mourinho from the managerial role.

Since then, Ole has taken charge of the club on an interim basis and the move has paid dividends for the opening weeks with United going through a five-match winning run across all competitions. Speaking to TalkSPORT, Murphy indicated that Ole has brought some much-needed freshness and the added freedom offered to the players has been demonstrative of the results.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer open to permanent Manchester United job

Manchester United’s interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that he would prefer a permanent deal with the Red Devils once his caretaker role concludes at the end of the campaign. The Norwegian was recruited from Molde on a short-term deal for the season after the Red Devils took the decision to axe Jose Mourinho from the head coach position.

Speaking to reporters, Solskjaer highlighted that he savours the dream of managing United for the long-term but he is nonetheless pleased to have got the opportunity to coach the club for the remainder of the ongoing campaign, he said: “I understand there are so many managers that would love to be manager of Manchester United. I am one of them, but it is not something we have talked about. I didn’t think twice when they called me to sign me as a player and this is an honour and privilege to be helping the club for a few months.”

Sky Sports pundit speaks on Marko Arnautovic’s situation amid Manchester United interest

Sky Sports pundit Carlton Cole does not feel Marko Arnautovic would actively seek a move away from West Ham United when the transfer window reopens in a couple of months’ time. The Austria international has been a favourite among the Hammers’ faithful after making genuine progress over the past 18 months but his future has been called into question after the recent comments by his representative.

Moreover, Manchester United have been fancied to acquire his signature in recent weeks but Cole does not believe the forward would pursue a winter departure from the east London outfit, he told Sky Sports: “Do you know what, he’s happy at this club. I don’t think he’s looking actively to go and leave. He’s loved here. I don’t see any reason why he should be leaving the club. Everyone knows what he’s capable of here and I think we’ll see him stay.”
