RANGNICK CONFIRMS UCL START FOR DUO

Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has revealed that the duo of Dean Henderson and Donny Van De Beek will start the final Group F clash with Young Boys at home in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). The German tactician made this known in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game billed for the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday night.

England international Henderson is expected to replace David De Gea in the Manchester United goal for the visit of Swiss champions Young Boys, while Dutch midfielder Donny Van De Beek could take the place of Bruno Fernandez as the central attacking midfielder in the team as the Manchester United boss tries to rest his players ahead of a busy December schedule.

Manchester United have already wrapped up their status as group winners and the result from the Young Boys game won’t affect that though their Swiss opponents have everything to play for when it comes to Europa League football. Young Boys can still secure third place in the group ahead of Atalanta who have an away clash with Spanish La Liga side Villarreal in the other group game.

Rangnick also gave an update on EdinsonCavani and Raphael Varane during his pre-match presser. According to him, the two experienced players have returned to training, but the Young Boys game will come too soon for them. Uruguayan international striker Cavani has been struggling with a tendon injury since he was amongst the goals in the 3-0 away win over North London side Tottenham Hotspur at the end of October. On his part, Varane has been missing with a thigh issue since the 2-2 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League at the start of last month.

As at the time of his press conference for the Young Boys match, Rangnick said he’s yet to decide on his starting XI for the game, but he wants his team to continue the recent positive run. The Red Devils are unbeaten in three games.
