Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has claimed that the German outfit have their work cut out against Manchester United in the Champions League, despite the poor form of the English club.
After the first managerial change in 26 years, United have been struggling for form under David Moyes. They have slipped to seventh in the table, which would have been unthinkable during the years of Ferguson. Even though they have had some great results against Bayern Munich over the years, this United team are expected to struggle against the German outfit.
They come into the match as a strong team and one that recently won the Bundesliga title with a record seven matches left. There are also on course to becoming the first club to retain the Champions League title.
Guardiola has made them into a formidable opposition, but Robben is tending to be wary of United. He says that the Red Devils have always proved to be a formidable opposition even when they did not have the best of form. It will be the case once again at Old Trafford with the home supporters behind them.
Bayern Munich will be looking to score at least an away goal, which would be a massive boost ahead of the return leg at the Allianz Arena.
“In a game like this, form goes out of the window. In the previous round United lost 2-0 at Olympiakos then won at home 3-0. We must be careful. In the media and the public it’s general consensus that Manchester United are not in good shape, but they have reached the quarter-finals here. But I do not think like this – this is a difficult duel! We need to perform from the first minute and put in a top performance. You need to be careful or you can lose against United,” said Robben.
