Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expecting Marcus Rashford to kick on from the previous season and contribute more goals in the Premier League. The England international managed just 10 goals in the top-flight during the course of the 2018/19 campaign, but Solskjaer believes the forward can show an improvement this term with the additional experience gained.
Rashford contributed a brace during the Premier League opener against Chelsea where United romped to a comfortable 4-0 triumph. The 21-year-old opened the scoring for the Red Devils after being handed with the chance to convert the penalty ahead of Paul Pogba. Thereafter, he continued to remain a regular force on the counter-attack and contributed in the lead-up to the second goal before scoring the team’s third from an excellent defence-splitting pass from Pogba.
With the victory, United have jumped to second on the league table behind only Manchester City on the goal difference. Next up, they have an away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 19 and Solskjaer will be hoping for a repeat performance. Wolvers have proved a bogey club for United since their return to the Premier League last season and they remain undefeated over the past three meetings including the 2-1 triumph during the FA Cup quarter-final.
